The cactus stands 65 cm tall with two stubby arms and a small yellow bloom on one shoulder, covered in a soft textured green fabric that reads as prickly from across the room and is anything but up close.

The trunk is where the work happens. It is wound in linen and sisal rope pulled tight around an engineered wood core, and it runs the full height of the post, so a cat can plant its back feet and reach right up. That vertical stretch is what most cats are actually after when they go for the arm of a sofa.
