CocoCat Tofu Cat Litter
Cats have their own rhythms. Our litter is designed to follow, not interrupt.

Why cococat chose to make tofu litter
Cats instinctively look for a surface they can dig into and cover. For a long time, mineral and bentonite litter felt like the closest match to natural soil under a cat’s paws, which is why they became the default in so many households. But once a cat’s life moves indoors, the limits of that material are harder to ignore.
- Dust in the air can affect a cat’s breathing over time. Research on feline respiratory sensitivity matches what many cat owners notice at home.
- When clumps crumble or stick to the tray, cleaning takes more time than it should.
- Refilling is heavier than expected, with bags that are awkward to lift and handle.
- Mineral litters rely on mining, which takes a toll on the earth.

That’s where tofu litter comes in.
Plant fibres produce far less dust and weigh much less. They form clumps quickly that lift cleanly and feel gentler under paws. The clumps hold their shape until you drop them in the toilet, where they dissolve in water. Flushing them directly means less plastic waste from daily disposal.
The plant fibres come from food-industry by-products, so the litter is a more thoughtful choice from production through everyday use to disposal.
SHOP TOFU LITTERWhy not all tofu litters feel the same?
If you’ve heard that tofu litter can be dusty or fragile, that experience makes sense. Not all tofu litters are made to the same standard.
Lower-quality fibres and rushed processing often lead to excess dust, weak clumping, and lingering odour, even when labelled “bio”. These issues aren’t inherent to tofu litter. They come down to material choice and how carefully it’s made. With the right formulation and process, tofu litter can stay plant-based and still perform the way daily care demands.
How it’s made, and why it works

Our source
We start with a plant-based formula: 80% pea fibre and 20% millet.
The pea fibre comes from by-products left after protein extraction. It is food-grade plant material that is light, porous, and naturally absorbent.

From source to pellets
Before shaping, both ingredients go through controlled sterilisation, drying, and purification, so the raw materials are clean and stable before they become litter. They are then formed using separate moulding processes that preserve the role of each material.

From pellet to finished product
After shaping, the pellets pass through a dust-removal process, then laboratory testing that checks particle size and dust levels against our internal standards. Only then are they vacuum-sealed for packaging, which keeps dust levels as low as possible.

Nothing more
- No silica.
- No artificial chemical additives.
- No heavy coatings to make up for poor material.
Every step is there to keep the experience calm and easy to live with.
Every ingredient, in full
Pea Fiber
Plant fibre left after protein extraction. Light, porous, and naturally absorbent.
Millet
Fine plant grains that wrap moisture quickly and help the litter clump fast.
Rice Flour
Used in small amounts to support structure, without hardening the pellets.
Corn Starch
Used in small amounts to hold the pellets together, without making them hard.
Food-Grade Guar Gum
A natural thickening agent from guar beans, commonly used in food. It helps clumps hold together when you scoop, without adding weight or residue.
Plant-Based Enzymes
These break down organic compounds at the source to help control odour.
What it feels like, day to day

99.9% dust-free processing to protect sensitive noses and lungs

Smooth, lightweight pellets that feel gentle under paws

Fast clumping within seconds, forming tight, non-stick clumps

No sticking to the tray, no crumbling when you scoop

Low tracking, so floors and furniture stay cleaner

A subtle jasmine milk tea aroma stays in the background. The plant-based fragrance is supplied by Givaudan and formulated to be pet-safe: present enough to keep the space fresh, never strong enough to overwhelm a cat’s senses.
Why we chose a light scent for our tofu litter
Tofu litter is made from plant fibres, which carry a mild, bean-like scent.
Some cats don’t enjoy that scent. Rather than leave it untreated, we balance it with a light, plant-based fragrance that stays soft in the background, so the space smells fresh without overwhelming a cat’s senses.
Made to fit real routines
CocoCat tofu litter is made to work quietly in the background.
- High absorption means fewer full litter changes
- Suitable for kittens, adult cats, and seniors
- Lightweight 2.5 kg / 6 L vacuum-sealed pack, easy to lift and store
- Works with most litter trays and self-cleaning boxes. Avoid ultra-fine mesh systems built only for very fine mineral sand.
How much to use, and how long it lasts
One full bag of CocoCat tofu litter covers a standard litter tray.
In a single-cat household this usually lasts 3–4 weeks. Because tofu litter forms firm clumps, you don’t need to replace the whole tray each time. Just remove clumps as they form. From the second bag on, a small top-up keeps the litter at the right depth.
In everyday use, a two-bag pack lasts around two months for one cat. For good hygiene and comfort, we recommend a full tray refresh every 2–3 months.

Using an automatic litter box?
We also make a cassava-based litter for self-cleaning systems.
